Work zone typical traffic control plans (TCP)

Typical traffic control plans (TCP) are generic and not intended to satisfy all work zone conditions and serve as guides. Typical TCPs may be modified with sound engineering judgment and familiarization with work zone policy and guidance. For unique roadway configurations or conditions, develop a project or site-specific TCPs.

Traffic control plans must have acceptance by the appropriate agency or agencies having jurisdiction. Work zone speed limit reductions and advisory speeds must have approval per Chapter 5 in the Traffic Manual.

Typical TCPs are being updated in Microstation to full-color and include up-to-date work zone cells. PDFs for newly revised TCPs are in color only, while PDFs for older updates also include black/white versions. Check back often as Typical TCPs are updated and new ones are added to the Library over time.

All users must update cells at least quarterly to help avoid using outdated cells.
