Consultant use of WSDOT's Bentley Software

Along with our Consultant Training document, this section clarifies consultant use of our software licenses for Bentley Systems MicroStation and InRoads to deliver WSDOT projects. Bentley Systems reviewed and concurs that this information does not violate the Bentley Select license agreement with us.

We distinguish between "on-site" and "off-site" consultants to determine what we can and cannot do with our Bentley software licenses and training, using these definitions:

• On-site GEC: General Engineering Consultant co-located with WSDOT staff in WSDOT facilities using WSDOT computers and logon ids.
• Off-site consultants: Consultants working from their own facilities using their own computers.

Consultant license use and training attendance

• On-site GEC: Considered the same as WSDOT employees and have full rights to use our Bentley software licenses when using the software from a WSDOT owned computer.
• Off-site consultants: Cannot use our Bentley software licenses under any circumstances. Consultants will need to contact Bentley for a Select Server Site Application Key to operate the V8i applications listed below.

WSDOT Legacy V8i CADD resources setup

Review WSDOT V8i Resource Setup (PDF 155KB) instructions to setup CADD resources used for both MicroStation SS3 and Power InRoads SS2. The WSDOT V8i resources are designed to be setup in their own folders separate and distinct from the program software or any other resource set.

External customers can download the WSDOT CAE Legacy V8i Resources (ZIP 46.3MB). The resources are used to develop WSDOT deliverables using MicroStation SS3 and Power InRoads SS2 per the 2017 Electronic Engineering Data Standards manual found in the Related Publications section of the Electronic Engineering Data Standards.

Disclaimer

We developed CAE custom resources for MicroStation SS3 and Power InRoads SS2 for the Microsoft Windows 10 operating system. We do not guarantee these resources will work well in other computing environments.

WSDOT V8i DGN global origin disclaimer

The current WSDOT V8i DGN Global Origin XY is shifted from the design plane center and may impact 3D referencing to WSDOT 2D or 3D DGN and other CAD platforms. This issue is represented by a reference offset of -2.1475 on each axis (XY for 2D and XYZ for 3D) from the design plane center.

When referencing a WSDOT V8i DGN to another DGN, or when converting a WSDOT V8i DGN to another CAD format, verify the referenced data keeps the original coordinates. Compare the native file coordinates with the reference coordinates for consistency.
