Project overview
As part of the state's fish recovery efforts, WSDOT has made it a priority to reconnect waterways where our roads act as barriers. In western Washington, that means building hundreds of fish passable structures under state highways in the next decade to create habitat gain essential for meeting our fish recovery goals. Beginning in Spring 2026, WSDOT will build a new fish passage structure where Munson Creek crosses SR 528 (MP 2.51) to restore fish access to previously inaccessible stream habitat.
What to expect
SR 528 travelers and users of local roads can expect:
- Long-term periodic traffic restrictions to two lanes along SR 528 between 67th Ave NE and 83rd Ave NE
This project is combined into a single contract with two other fish passage projects on SR 92 and SR 204. Construction is scheduled to occur from early 2026 – late 2027. We will post important project updates as work progresses to our social media channels and traffic news emails.
