2018 - WSDOT awards $1.2 million in state funds to 20 airports during second round of 2017-2019 grants

Over eighty-eight percent ($42.3 million) of the $47.7 million in federal, state and local aid investment dollars is slated for projects that preserve and improve critical airport pavement. Five safety projects account for over eight percent ($4.0 million) of the combined grant dollars, while five planning projects account for the remaining three percent ($1.4 million).

Thirty-four airports applied for nearly $3.7 million in grants for this round. WSDOT's grant program is funded through an 11-cent-per gallon fee on aviation fuel, along with aircraft registration fees, and aircraft excise tax.
WSDOT anticipates soliciting applications for the first round of 2019-2021 biennium grants in March and April 2019. Award notifications for that round of grants is targeted for the week of July 8, 2019.
