Airport Aid Grant Awards (2013-2015 Biennium)
2014 - WSDOT awards $1.7 million in state funds to 25 airports during second round of 2013-2015 grants
OLYMPIA - Twenty-five Washington airports will receive $1,752,762.53 in state funds during the second round of Airport Aid Program grants for the 2013-2015 biennium. These funds will cover 31 airport projects across the state in the areas of pavement, safety, and planning.
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Aviation also used $406,881.46 in state funds to leverage nearly $8 million in federal grants for Washington airports.

Forty-one percent ($4.4 million) of the $10.8 million in federal, state and local aid investment dollars is slated for projects that improve airport safety. Pavement projects account for another 41 percent ($4.4 million) of the combined grant dollars. Planning and maintenance projects account for the remaining 18 percent ($1.9 million).

Exact grant amounts are subject to change according to final project bid totals and construction quantities.
Thirty airports applied for more than $2.5 million in grants for this round. WSDOT's grant program is funded through an 11-cent-per gallon fee on aviation fuel, along with aircraft registration fees.
WSDOT anticipates soliciting applications for the first round of 2015-2017 biennium grants in March and April 2015. Award notifications for that round of grants is targeted for the week of July 6, 2015.
