SR 302 Elgin Clifton Road to SR 16 Corridor Study

Planning study news

The SR 302 Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) studied the highway corridor between Elgin Clifton Road and SR 16. The study was put on hold in June 2013, with more work needed to complete a NEPA draft document, conduct the public hearing and comment period, and publish a record of decision.

Timeline
Fall 2007 - June 2013
Status
On hold
Budget
$2,500,000

Purpose

SR 302, an important east-west link for Key Peninsula communities, has been the subject of a corridor study designed to conform with the decision making requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). This area of the state's highway system located in Pierce and Kitsap counties has seen an increase in traffic over the years. The study evaluated environmental and traffic conditions to determine a future project that will potentially improve this corridor. The study will identify the best long term strategy for this vital transportation connection. In 2007, WSDOT led this environmental and technical evaluation of the alternatives. During that time, activities have focused on conceptual engineering and screening of alternatives, public outreach and involvement, and environmental impacts assessment.

The last phase of the study is described in the folio (PDF 450KB).
