Project overview
This project will improve mobility and reduce collision severity at the intersection of US 2/97 and Easy Street in Wenatchee, by constructing a multi-lane roundabout at the existing signalized intersection. Other improvements including transit pull outs and extension of the Apple Capital Loop Trail are also planned.
What to expect
Beginning the night of Monday, July 17 between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., there will single lane closures through the roundabout while the contractor completes some concrete repairs. The contractor will also make repairs to Penny Road and Ohme Garden Road on Tuesday, July 18 from 5 a.m. to noon. There will not be a detour, but travelers should plan for lane reductions 24 hours a day while the concrete cures. That work is scheduled to wrap up Friday, July 21.
The roundabout opened July 2 to traffic.
Work will continue at that intersection after the opening of the roundabout and will require intermittent lane closures and flagging. Permanent striping work will follow in a few weeks, after asphalt and concrete have adequately cured. Striping work will require two or three overnight closures using the same detour. That work is likely to happen in late July, but dates have not yet been established.
The US 2 - US 97 Easy St Roundabout will install a multi-lane roundabout and enhanced multimodal facilities including transit pull outs and pedestrian upgrades at the current site of the signalized intersection.
