SR 99/1st Ave S Bridge-Tower Mitigation & Watertight Door Replacement

Project overview

This project will replace watertight doors, demolish the East Control Tower’s top two floors and seal the new roof on the northbound State Route 99 1st Avenue South Bridge from mileposts 26.83 to 26.88. This project will also include waterproof membrane roof work on the West Bridge Control Tower and on the rest of the towers for the East Bridge. This project will preserve the existing structural integrity of the bridge and extend its service life.

What to expect

Travelers can expect several north and southbound nighttime single and double-lane closures at the 1st Avenue South Bridge on SR 99 between the summer of 2025 and the summer of 2026. 

This project will replace watertight doors, install waterproof membranes on the towers and demolish the East Control Tower’s top two floors on the northbound SR 99 1st Avenue South Bridge, in addition to replacing the waterproof membrane of the West Control Tower on the southbound side.
