From Monday, April 21 through early June, expect nighttime single-lane closures in both directions of SR 7 near 188th Street South and 184th Street South in Spanaway.
Project overview
This project replaces existing rapid flashing beacons with overhead pedestrian signals at 11 locations along State Route 7 in the Pierce County communities of Parkland and Spanaway. Some locations will have improved pedestrian ramps, extensions to the median islands, turn restrictions, and additional pavement markings.
What to expect
Travelers can expect nighttime single-lane closures on SR 7. Lane closures will happen in both directions. Bicycle and pedestrian detours will also be available throughout the project. Once complete, travelers will see overhead traffic lights displaying green arrows. The signals will turn red for drivers when activated by a user of the crossing.
Crews will work south to north starting at 188th Street South in Spanaway.
Southbound SR 7 work hours:
- 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday to 10 a.m. each following day
- 7 p.m. Sunday to 10 a.m. Monday
Northbound SR 7 work hours:
- 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday to 5 a.m. each following day
- 7 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday
- 6:30 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday
- 6 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday
Temporary bus stop changes
People may need to use the next closest Pierce Transit bus stop during these hours. Bus riders are encouraged to check the Pierce Transit website for any changes in advance.
This project will make pedestrian improvements at 11 highway crossings along State Route 7 from Violet Meadow Street East in Parkland to 189th Street East in Spanaway.
