Down the road: Contract awarded for I-405 corridor improvements including multimodal mobility, bus rapid transit
BOTHELL – The Washington State Department of Transportation and Sound Transit awarded a design-build contract last week for a multiyear project along a segment of Interstate 405 that will extend the dual express toll lane (ETL) system and improve the flow of traffic on the Eastside.
Fish habitat work under SR 108 between Kamilche and McCleary in Mason County gets underway
SHELTON – Preliminary work starting in August on State Route 108 in Mason County will lead up to major construction scheduled to begin in September on the highway. The work is part of the Washington State Department of Transportation’s ongoing effort to remove barriers to fish passage under state highways.
Temporary speed reductions on SR 18 between Tiger Mountain, I-90 begin Monday, Aug. 7
SNOQUALMIE – Construction along State Route 18 near Tiger Mountain has slowed traffic through the area since it began. With temporary speed limit reductions on the way next week, travelers should plan now for a little additional time for their trips through the end of next year.

New westbound SR 16 bridge opening near Purdy mid-August
GIG HARBOR – In mid-August, SR 16 travelers will begin using the new westbound bridge over Purdy Creek. Following the bridge opening, crews will reconfigure the eastbound travel lanes to shift into the median.
Construction to start soon on I-5 at Steilacoom-DuPont Road in DuPont
DUPONT – This August, a major construction project will kick off in Pierce County that extends HOV lanes and builds a new overpass over Interstate 5 linking Joint Base Lewis-McChord and the city of DuPont.
Second round, weekend-long full closure of SR 530 west of Arlington July 28
ARLINGTON – One new roundabout on SR 530, just west of Arlington, is done. One more roundabout to go. This weekend, from 9 p.m. Friday, July 28 through 4 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, SR 530 will be closed between 59th Avenue NE and 211th Place NE, just west of Arlington for roundabout construction.
US 101 to close north of Quilcene for 22 days starting July 31
QUILCENE – Travelers heading out along the Hood Canal on US 101 in Jefferson County should take note of a culvert-replacement detour beginning Monday, July 31, and lasting for 22 days.
