East Valley is part of the greater Yakima Metro Area that includes the Terrace Heights neighborhood and the City of Moxee. Over the last several years, growth and development in East Valley have increased demand on the transportation system, resulting in travel delay. The Cities of Moxee and Yakima, Yakima County, the Yakima Valley Conference of Governments (YVCOG) and WSDOT are working together to provide a safe, reliable and effective transportation network for East Valley. This study will include public and agency input and be used to guide future improvements of the transportation network.

The SR 24 Corridor Study will help WSDOT and its partners understand corridor needs and identify possible improvements to help meet performance gaps. Documenting these strategies will help secure funding for future improvements.
Examples of possible improvements include:
- Traffic calming characteristics or intersection modifications along the high-speed corridor near schools and businesses.
- "Complete Streets" design to improve car and pedestrian mobility.
- Bicycle and pedestrian improvements and connections.
