Project overview
The bridge deck of southbound State Route 167, just north of SR 516/Willis Street, in Kent is worn and has areas of exposed rebar and concrete damage in need of repair. This project will repair concrete and provide a new driving surface for the bridge deck. Construction crews will also replace expansion joints to preserve the bridge and extend its service life.
What to expect
Travelers who use southbound SR 167 can expect nightly single and two-lane closures, and up to six weekends of around-the-clock lane closures, leaving a single lane open to southbound traffic.
During the six full weekend closures, crews will reduce southbound SR 167 to a single lane starting at 10 p.m. Fridays and reopen at 5 a.m. the following Monday. There will be no tolling within the project area.
Construction crews will work on half of the bridge each weekend. A single lane will be open, on the far left or the far right.
Four weekends of work are complete and two are left before the bridge deck is finished. Crews will return for a few overnight shifts to seal the new expansion joints and apply permanent striping.
The paving work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled if rain is in the forecast.
To preserve the life of the bridge on SR 167 over Interurban, work crews will have single and two-lane closures this summer while they resurface the area, repair expansion joints, and install striping and rumble strips.
